Who We Are

The pizza factory Story — Built on Dough, Fire & Heart

Pizza factory was born from a simple obsession: create the most honest, flavourful pizza in Virginia. Our founders Marco and Lisa Ferrante arrived in Occoquan with nothing but a family recipe, a used stone deck oven, and an unshakeable belief that great pizza changes the mood of a room.

The pizzafactory concept is rooted in old-world technique — slow-fermented dough, San Marzano tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella pulled in-house every morning. We opened our doors at 313 Mill St in the Occoquan Historic District and quickly became a community cornerstone.

Today, we serve hundreds of guests daily, but every pie still gets the same hands-on attention it did on day one. We're not a chain pretending to be artisan — we're the real pizza factory your neighbourhood deserves.

2013

The First Slice

Marco and Lisa Ferrante begin testing recipes in their home kitchen in Occoquan, inspired by Marco's grandmother's Neapolitan technique and locally grown tomatoes.

2014

Doors Open on Mill St

Pizza factory officially opens at 313 Mill St Suite F in the Occoquan Historic District. A 40-seat restaurant with one stone deck oven and a six-item menu — fully sold out on opening night.

2016

Northern Virginia's Best Pizza

Recognised by the Northern Virginia Magazine as the region's top artisan pizza spot. The pizzafactory name becomes synonymous with quality in the DMV area.

2018

Catering & Events Launch

We expand our offering to include full-service catering, private events, and pop-up pizza stations. The mobile oven makes its debut at local festivals and corporate events.

2021

Digital Ordering Goes Live

Launching online ordering and delivery partnerships, bringing the authentic pizza factory experience directly to homes across Prince William County.

2024

Franchise Programme Launched

After years of requests, Pizza factory opens its franchise programme, allowing passionate pizza makers across the US to carry the brand and craft forward.

Born in Naples, trained in Rome. Marco has been stretching dough since age nine. He oversees every recipe at the pizza factory and personally trains every pizzaiolo we hire.
